LG buying guide for India

LG is a South Korean electronics company that started as GoldStar. In India it sells TVs, refrigerators, washing machines, air conditioners, microwaves and monitors, made in its own factories in Noida and Pune. It is India's biggest seller by value of washing machines, refrigerators, panel TVs and inverter ACs in shops. LG stopped making phones in 2021.

Mid-range to premium home appliances and TVs. LG rarely makes the cheapest model, but it has a wide range in every size and the longest parts warranties in several categories.

Service and support

LG says it has about 1,006 service centres and more than 13,000 engineers in India. TVs and large appliances are repaired at your home. Check the warranty card for what the long warranties cover.

Warranty

TV: 1 year. Refrigerator: 1 year, plus 10 years on the compressor (parts only). Washing machine: 2 years, plus 10 years on the direct drive motor (parts only). Air conditioner: 1 year, plus 10 years on inverter compressors or 5 years on other split AC compressors; gas charging is paid by you. Monitor: 3 years. Dishwasher: 2 years, plus 10 years on the motor.

Returns and refunds

LG does not take products back after delivery unless they are faulty, damaged, fake or not as described. You can refuse the order at delivery if the box is visibly damaged, the product does not work, or it is the wrong model, so check it before the delivery person leaves. Refunds of payments take 5-7 working days; EMI orders are refunded by the bank.

Buyback and exchange

We did not find a standing LG buyback scheme in India. Exchange offers usually come from the shop or website you buy from, so compare the exchange price with what you could get by selling the old product yourself.
