Xiaomi buying guide for India

Xiaomi is a Chinese electronics company, founded in Beijing in 2010. It came to India in July 2014 with the Mi 3 on Flipkart and now sells phones under three names: Xiaomi (premium), Redmi (budget and mid-range) and POCO (online-first, for speed and battery). It also sells TVs, smart home products and accessories. Together, Xiaomi and POCO were India's fourth-biggest phone seller in April-June 2026.

Mostly budget and mid-range: lots of features for the price. Redmi and POCO cover the cheaper end, and Xiaomi-branded phones are premium.

Service and support

Take the product to a Xiaomi authorised service centre (walk-in). Xiaomi opened 10 Premium Service Centres in October 2025 and plans 100; it says about 95% of phones there are repaired within 24 hours. Call 1800-103-6286 or use mi.com to find the nearest centre.

Warranty

Phones: 1 year on the handset; battery, charger and other accessories in the box get 6 months. TVs: 1 year, plus 1 more year on the panel for most models (the 2025 F and FX series get 1 year only). Power banks and most earphones: 6 months. The warranty is valid only in India, and repairs are walk-in at a service centre.

Returns and refunds

There is no no-questions return. If a product has a manufacturing defect, a service centre must first check and certify it; only then do you get a replacement within 10 days of purchase. For Amazon, Flipkart or shop purchases, that seller's own return rules also apply.

Buyback and exchange

Xiaomi's exchange programme for phones and tablets is run by Cashify, which decides the price for your old device. Compare it with selling the phone yourself.
